A Tribute To Ronnie Van Zant is a pure volonteer project, without any commercial interests what so ever. The only goal is to tribute and honor one of the greatest musicians and song writers ever. All bands and artists are invited to contribute to the tribute - the only rule is that it should be songs from the Ronnie Van Zant's Lynyrd Skynyrd. The tribute will be in form of a CD compilation, containing songs from various artists and bands worldwide. The selection of songs will be made of Monsters Of Southern Rock and all contributors, and will depend on how many contributions as well as the quality of the recordings. Release date for the Tribute CD is set to October 2007, which means that all contributions must be published before end of July. Monsters of Southern Rock will take care of everything around the project - CD compilation, CD cover, distribution, and so on. All bands and artists who contribute shall be aware of that the material can be used on the compiled tribute CD. All contributors will get a copy of the CD at no charge, only shipping cost. I have made a special bord for this project, Monsters Of Southern Rock, where we can put our contributions. Go there and post your tributes, make comments aso. Monsters Of Southern Rock will not use received or published material to anything else but the Tribute To Ronnie Van Zant Project. Let's tribute, Hans

The tribute CD sounds great. I may be able to get a picture of Ronnie being held as a baby. A frynd in Georgia formerly from Jax has a picture of his older sister holding Ronnie as a baby. Her last name was Thrift. The Thrift Singers as they were knows then were a Jax area gospel music group that played in the church where the Van Zants belonged. The Thrifts used to babysit for the Van Zants which is when the picture was taken. The photo has not been authenticated by the VanZants, however I have no reason to doubt this story. I would need to make a copy of the original when I go up to Ga.and see my buddy as I am sure the original photo will not leave the hands of the Thrift family.
